Mexico Beach Vacations:

What to Pack for Vacations to a Mexico Beach

Custom Search

Depending on the time of year and location, packing for any Mexico beach vacations can be overwhelming. For a full packing list, covering what you do and don't need, keep reading.

Beach Wear

This item is obvious. Pack lots of beach shorts and swim suits as these items don't take up a lot of room and weigh very little. If you've done your planning right, the bulk of your Mexico beach vacations should be spent on the beach anyway.

Modest or Town Wear

A trip into town often involves numerous stops at incredible cathedrals and cultural landmarks.

It's considered disrespectful to enter these places dressed for the beach in shorts and tank tops, so pack a set of town clothes including a skirt for women and long pants for men.

Dress-Casual or Dinner Wear

Chances are you'll have a few dinners out or evenings on the town and you can't show up in a sarong and flip-flops, so pack at least one nice outfit for a fine dinner or evening spent dancing.

Hiking Shoes

If you plan to visit any ruins or doing any walking tours, you're going to want a pair of good walking or hiking shoes.

Unless you're planning to take on a 7-day excursion, there's no need to go overboard with full hiking boots, a solid pair of comfortable shoes should be enough.

A Few Pairs of Beach Shoes

You can buy flip-flops and sandals everywhere, but it's still a good idea to pack at least a couple of pairs in case one gets lost or forgotten on the beach.

Jacket or Long-Sleeved Sweater

Whether or not you're traveling during the cold season, some Mexican nights can get a little chilly. Prepare for this by packing a light jacket or long-sleeved sweater.

English-Spanish Dictionary

Almost all the staff at most Mexico beach vacations' destinations or resorts will speak English.

However, once you're outside the resort area, not everyone will, so pack a travel-size, lightweight Spanish-English dictionary or phrase book that will help you negotiate in the market, get directions or even hail a taxi.
