Indoor Water Park Hotel - Michigan: Choosing an Indoor Water Park Hotel in Michigan

Custom Search

If you're looking for an indoor water park hotel, Michigan is the place to be. The state is home to seven parks with two more slated to open in the next two years.

Thanks to its proximity to the Canadian border and appeal as a central stopping point, the state is flooded with family-friendly hotels offering indoor water sports and entertainment.

For a listing of the most popular hotels in Michigan with indoor water parks, keep reading.

Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, MI

Great Wolf Lodge is a chain of hotels with locations throughout the United States and Canada. They offer seriously massive indoor water parks along with family-focused suites.

For example, you can get a room that has a separate area with bunk beds for the kids along with a full-size bed for mom and dad.

Great Wolf's biggest drawback though is the price. For a family of four, you should expect to pay close to $300 a night for a family suite. You'll also be paying for meals on top of this, so budget accordingly.

And, if you're planning to travel to a Great Wolf Lodge over a holiday weekend or during the summer holidays, then book early and expect a crowd.

Gold Rush Water Park at the Double JJ Ranch and Resort

About five miles from Lake Michigan and in close proximity to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, the Double JJ Ranch and Resort offers an indoor water park hotel, Michigan wilderness and lots of outdoor activities for the kids.

Unfortunately, the room quality isn't as high as other resorts, but it's fine for a quick stop with the kids. You can expect to pay between $125 and $200 a night for a family of four, but don't expect room service or marble-tiled bathrooms.

Avalanche Bay at the Boyne Mountain Resort

The Boyne Mountain Resort is comprised of the New Mountain Grand Lodge, the Avalanche Bay water park and an on-site spa. There's even a ski hill, meaning you can spend your afternoon on the slopes and your evenings at the water park with the kids. In the summer, the site offers recreational golf.

The best part is that you can choose between the budget lodgings at Boyne Mountain (between $75 and $100) and the higher end accommodations at the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa, which is actually connected to the Avalanche Bay water park.

If you're looking for an indoor water park hotel, Michigan clearly has numerous options that can appeal to any family at almost any budget. From high-end to budget-friendly, these three hotels represent the best of each.
