Recreation Travel Tips :: Grand Canyon Vacations Grand Canyon Vacations:Take Your Vacations at the Grand CanyonGrand Canyon vacations are as much of a staple as the vacations that you take to Disneyworld or Disneyland. It is a pilgrimage that each child and each adult must take—while it is not written down anywhere, this is a tradition that has been passed down through the generations ever since somebody first stumbled across the canyon and said “Wow. Look at that.” You will be hard pressed to find a person who has not been to visit the Grand Canyon at least once during the course of his or her life. What To Do At the Grand Canyon You might not think that there is a lot to do on Grand Canyon vacations besides, well, looking at the canyon, but there is plenty to see and do while you are there. You might think about taking the Grand Canyon River Adventure. This is an all day tour that takes tourists out to the canyon as the sun is coming up and takes them through the canyon to Lake Powell. Once you and your group reach the lake you will eat breakfast and then take a tour of one of the slot canyons. The one you wills see on the Grand Canyon River Adventure is called Antelope Canyon and it is a living example of how water, wind and time can create canyons in the earth. You might also want to check out the Colorado River Float Trip during your Grand Canyon vacations. This tour starts out in Arizona and takes visitors on a tour of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the Desertview Watchtower, the Glen Canyon Dam, The Colorado River, the Petroglyph panel and Lunch Beach. The entire tour takes twelve hours to complete, but it is well worth the time. Staying Overnight at the Grand Canyon There are hotels and motels to stay in when you take your Grand Canyon vacations, but you might want to bring a tent or a motor home and do some camping. What better place to go camping than the Grand Canyon? If you prefer the hotels and motels, though, the best way to book your rooms is online, through a travel web site. These web sites often have deals available to people who book their lodging through the Internet and this is a great way to save money. You might also want to call a travel agent because your travel agent might be able to get you a good deal based on the length of your stay and whether your lodging can be packaged with other activities or transportation needs.
